March 28, 2026 marked another significant and celebratory milestone in the Warri Kingdom as Olobe Community officially brought to a glorious close their three-month Ghigho Aghofen palace watch duty by hosting His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, in the serene grounds of their community. What began a little over ninety days ago as a call to duty in grand flair wrapped up in another wave of celebration, colour, and the deep communal joy of a people proudly rooted in a strong heritage.

For three months, the Olobe Community stood faithful and unwavering as custodians of Aghofen, fulfilling their sacred responsibility with a devotion that spoke not merely of obligation, but of genuine love for the throne and for the Itsekiri culture. During this period, the palace hosted a number of dignitaries as well as special occasions, starting with the installation of new chiefs and ambassage chiefs of the Warri Kingdom, to the visits of the Secretary General of the Commonwealth, Hon. Shirley Botchwey, and the former President of Malawi, Her Excellency Dr. Joyce Banda. Most notable also during their watch period was the grand reception and chieftaincy installation of Her Excellency Sen. Oluremi Tinubu CON ROI, the First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and now the Utukpa-Oritse of Warri Kingdom.

His Majesty expressed his gratitude to the sons and daughters of the community for their commitment during this period and prayed the blessings of the Almighty God over the people, the land and the waters that surrounds them. His Majesty also invites all and sundry as, on Saturday, March 29, 2026, Olobe will hand over watch duties to the next community in another Ghigho Aghofen ceremony.
