Harnessing Our Blue Economy for Sustainable Growth

"When a new frontier opens up, it comes with excitement, zeal and enthusiasm. It redefines a region's productive potential, and can completely transform the existing status quo.

But it is important to set the foundation right, so we do not get carried away by the prospects of economic benefits alone, and lose sight of other serious considerations.

While I am excited for, and look forward to us achieving every advantage this new frontier promises to us as a people and nation, I am not just the custodian of a people and a culture, I am also a custodian of their environment. While we want our lives to be drastically improved by the proceeds of the blue economy, our environment must not pay the price.

Our vision extends far beyond conservation; it is about building a thriving green economy, that works hand in hand with the blue economy, with the orange economy, and most importantly, one that benefits our people now and for generations to come.

Our commitment to protecting the Niger Delta's natural heritage is directly linked to creating real economic opportunities for our communities. With strong leadership and dedicated collaboration, we can turn this vision into a lasting legacy for the region.

Our collective efforts can show that environmental protection and economic progress are not opposing goals but partners in sustainable development. By investing in our mangrove forests, we protect vital ecosystems, create meaningful livelihoods, and build resilience across the Niger Delta. Now is our moment to lead by example, showing the world that when we unite around a clear purpose, we can achieve growth that preserves and uplifts both our people and our environment."
