Amid light showers, a sign of divine blessings, the Bobi community made a majestic entrance into Aghofen, formally assuming palace guard duties from the Ugbolokposo community, whose watch period successfully came to an end following the concluding quarter.

This marked the 18th edition of the Ghigho Aghofen Change of Palace Guard Ceremony, a tradition that reflects the enduring bond between the sacred Iwere Throne and the communities across the Iwere Kingdom. With this transition, Bobi becomes the 18th community to participate in this significant cultural legacy, writing its name into the living history of stewardship and loyalty.

Led by Ojoye Solomon Areyenka, the Eson of Warri, and Ojoye Esther Okotie-Eboh, the Iye of Warri, sons and daughters of the Bobi community proudly demonstrated their commitment and readiness for this responsibility entrusted to them. Their watch period is particularly significant as theirs is the quarter of the much-anticipated 5th Coronation Anniversary of His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III, the Olu of Warri, which will be celebrated this August.

Welcoming the Bobi community, His Majesty Ogiame Atuwatse III offered prayers for a tenure filled with peace, abundant blessings, and remarkable progress for all sons and daughters of the community.

The colourful ceremony was further enriched by a presentation from the Peace, Love and Unity Movement, featuring vibrant displays by the Yoruba, Igbo, Ilaje, and Hausa communities resident in Warri. Their participation underscored the spirit of harmony within cultural diversity, and the peaceful coexistence that continues to define the Warri Kingdom.
