When, in 2023, Her Majesty Olorì Atuwatsé III visited Bobi Community, a remote riverine community within the Warri Kingdom, the people made one simple but profound request: a school for their children.
In many riverine communities, the absence of schools means children must leave their homes to live with relatives in other communities where schools are available, simply to avoid the daily commute by water. For parents, there is no greater joy than seeing their children learn, grow and thrive within the safety and warmth of their own community.
Through the Royal Iwẹrẹ Foundation, championed by the mother heart of Olorì Atuwatsé III, that request has become a reality. Ologbotsere Primary School has been rebuilt and transformed into a modern learning environment, complete with new facilities, solar-powered electricity and an indoor Love Garden where the school’s 32 enrolled pupils can gain practical knowledge in sustainable agriculture. It is a testament to Their Majesties’ unwavering conviction that no community, however remote, should be left behind.
Their Majesties, along with esteemed Ojoyes, took the three-hour journey over water to Bobi Community to officially commission the remodeled school—a journey that reflects the depth of their commitment to the people of Warri Kingdom. What began as a simple request has become a lasting investment in the future of a community and its children.
Under the leadership of His Majesty Ogiamẹ Atuwatsé III and Her Majesty Olorì Atuwatsé III, the promise remains that every child deserves the opportunity to learn at home, every community deserves to be seen, and no part of the Warri Kingdom will be left behind.
